Announcement: Need Help with Turkey Shoot Prizes:

It’s early, but it needs planning. We need someone to arrange for the November shoot turkeys. This means going to the Centrewood Plaza Giant Food Store, and arranging with the Meat Department Manager for number of frozen turkeys to be available for pick up the morning of November 19th. Contact me if you can do it.

September Shoot Results:

It was a beautiful day for a match but only 8 competitors dodged “Honey Do Lists” to make the shoot. Or maybe it was the Schutzenmeister’s promise of a 100 yard target.

At 25 yards for 3 shots was the Standing Groundhog. First Place belonged firmly to Art Twichell with a 28. JP Sherkus was close behind with 27. Then came John Marhefka with 26 and Casey Rybak with 24.

Then there was the 3 Critters for one shot each. Again Art Twichell showed the way with a 20. John Marhefka was Second with a 17 and a better group than Frank Niccoli’s 17 for Third. JP Sherkus rounded out the winners with a 10.

At 50 yards for 3 shots was the Groundhog Head. Art Twichell was having an excellent day and scored 27 for First. JP Sherkus scored 20 for Second and had a better group than Frank Niccoli at 20 and Third. John Marhefka took Fourth with an 18.

The Pheasant took 5 shots at 50 yards. JP Sherkus scored a whopping 34X for First Place. John Marhefka scored a respectable 28 for Second. Third belonged to Mike Rodzianko with 19 and a better group than Art Twichell at 19 and Fourth.

AND AT 100 YARDS FOR 5 SHOTS was the Buffalo. JP Sherkus scored 30 to take First Place. Frank Niccoli was close with 26 and Second. Art Twichell scored 25 for Third and John Marhefka took Fourth with 24.

Four Pistol shooters entered the fray. It was a close contest from the beginning. JP turned in a 47X at 25 yards but John was close with 46. Mike (Elder) added 43 and Mike (Younger) kept it anyones game with 41. At 50 yards John was first to turn in a 41. Mike (Elder) did 21 while Mike (Younger) did 39. Then JP tossed a 41X into the pile. FIRST PLACE = JP Serkus with 88XX. Second Place = John Marhefka with 87. Third Place = Mike Rybak at 80 and Fourth Place Mike Rodzianko with 64.

Although Art Twichell took first place in 4 of the 5 matches, his total score of 119 was second to JP Sherkus with 121X. A very close finish. And John Marhefka was Third with 113 while Frank Niccoli was Fourth with an even 100. Following along were Mike Rodzianko, Casey Rybak, Al Short and Mike Rybak. It is important to note that Casey beat Mike. YEAH, CASEY !!!!

The next match will be October 15th. It will be an Aggregate Target Competition. Entry fee is $20. You get 3 of each rifle target and, if competing, 3 of each pistol target. Score your own, hand in your best. Please, do not stock pile or delay handing in your targets. You have 3 of each. After you shoot your best score of the thee and score your own, turn it in so we can keep the score sheet current. All shots are from the free-standing, off-hand position. Shooting begins at 8 AM and ends at 12 PM.
Relays are approximately 20 minutes each. Any safe muzzle loader (flint, cap, firelock, side slapper, under hammer, inline) may be used. Iron sights (open, peep, aperture) only, no scopes or optics permitted. Spotting scopes may be used.

Subject to change without notice—generally there are 5 targets, some requiring 5 shots, some only 3. Expect the unexpected and have a bundle of fun. Usually distances are 25 and 50 yards.

Usually does not mean always. :o) and our Schutzenmeister promises something “interesting”. Cue the evil laughter

Keep yer powder dry.
